Hello,
I have a issue with MS Teams Transcript functionality.
We have Office E3 licenses and I have enabled Transcription setting in Global Meeting policy about a week ago. We sign-out, sign-in to MS Teams desktop client and it didn't help.

The issue is that we are still not able to use this as the functionality is grayed-out in scheduled meetings

I also check settings with PowerShell and it is enabled for users and policies. Does anyone know what could be the issue Transcript is still not working?

    Hi @Dan ,

Transcript option started working 72h after the change was made to policy.

Great to know that it works now and thanks for sharing the update.

By the way, since the Microsoft Q&A community has a policy that "The question author cannot accept their own answer. They can only accept answers by others.". and according to the scenario introduced here: Answering your own questions on Microsoft Q&A, I would make a brief summary of this thread:

[MS Teams Start Transcript grayed out]

    Issue Symptom:
Office E3 licenses, "Start Transcript" still grayed out after enabling the Transcription setting in Global Meeting policy.

    Current status:
Transcript option started working 72h after the change was made to policy.

If you don't mind, you could click the "Accept Answer" button for this summary to close this thread, and this can make it easier for other community member's to see the useful information when reading this thread. Thanks for your understanding!

Hi @Yuki Sun-MSFT the issue is resolved.
It just took some time to replicate all changes. Transcript option started working 72h after the change was made to policy.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi

I am having this same issue and it's really frustrating me.

We have the Office 365 E3 (Nonprofit Staff) license for our company. But according this from the Teams page:

    Limitations

    Live transcription is available:

On the desktop version of Teams.

    • For customers with the following licenses: Office 365 E1, Office 365 A1, Office 365/Microsoft 365 A3, Office 365/Microsoft 365 A5, Microsoft 365 E3, Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 F1, Office 365/Microsoft 365 F3, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Microsoft 365 Business Premium SKUs.

So our only option to have the transcription option available would be to downgrade our license to E1 or A1, but in doing that we would no longer have access to all the Office Apps.

Am I missing something here? Please help!

    Hi @Yuki Sun-MSFT ,
    Thank you for the answer.
As we have adopted MS Teams just recently and we are still testing some functionalities, I'm testing with Teams meetings that were created after enabling the Transcription setting in Global Meeting policy.
And for all meeting that I schedule it looks like this:

Not sure if the license is the issue. I found a link where some licenses are stated and O365 E3 is not there. Which is kind of strange as O365 E1 is included. And I'm not sure why O365 E3 wouldn't be.

Even I am also facing this issue. There is no proper reason behind this issue.
It is grayed out even after enabling transcripts in group policy, its been 3 days till this problem exists.
