Hey everyone,

I am currently trying to recover my Microsoft authenticator backup on my iPad. Whenever I select "Recover backup" it lets me login but then I get the following error: " Something went wrong" and basically it either lets me select ok or send the file log. I have created my iCloud backup on my iPhone, I tried to removing it and replacing it with a more recent one, and I have also tried to restart and update my iPad, nothing changed.

How can I fix this?

    Hi,

My phone was stolen the other day, and I just got a new one. I have multiple accounts that have 2FA. Fortunately, on these accounts, I have a second method for authentication and I had to go to every one of them and try to activate the 2FA with an app manually again.

I Still need to connect to some websites that I don't have a second method of connection on them. So, I'm still stuck and need to restore my account.

This is serious guys, please do your best to fix this asap.

    Regards.

    Hi All,

I see many users have confirmed that now the issue is fixed, but now I've landed into another trouble.
Till yesterday I was able to see the same error message some thing like "unable to restore, something went wrong please send log using send logs options"
Now I'm getting this error "Your backup is not stored with <my email>. Try signing in to a different personal account".

I'm sure that in this account I've stored my backup and this is my only personal account.

PS: while trying to check on previous error which everyone was reporting, I remember yesterday I tried downloading the previous versions of the Authenticator app, I assume since then my error message got changed.

Could some advice, it's been 4 days and I've a major impact on my work as well as personal profile.

    Thanks

Cheers guys!! 3-4 days were nightmares for us. I've spent my time with Microsoft Support Team in 3-4 days. Finally, they could understand the problem caused by them. Thank you all wrote the issue here or anywhere.

Looks like it's finally fixed. I was able to recovery my 2FA code accounts. However, Microsoft invalidated my password.

Given the face that the restore feature wasn't working for a number of days and Microsoft is forcing everyone to reset their password, I'm guessing there was an undisclosed data breach.
