OUTLOOK 365 on MAC REPEATEDLY ASKING FOR EMAIL PASSWORD

How do I fix OUTLOOK 365 from asking me repeatedly to enter my email password again and again. The OUTLOOK is version 16.61. I enter the password and OUTLOOK performs the proper download/sync from my email provider (Earthlink). But, it will ask again the next time I go to my email, even 10 minutes later.

    Hi @James Robbins ,

    Welcome to our forum!

According to my search, this issue occurs because of the presence of duplicate tokens in the keychain.
To work around this issue, delete any cached passwords for your account, and also delete any modern authentication tokens from the keychain.

    1. Quit Outlook and all other Office applications.
    2. Start Keychain Access by using one of the following methods:
      • Select the Finder application, click Utilities on the Go menu, and then double-click Keychain Access.
      • In Spotlight Search, type Keychain Access, and then double-click Keychain Access in the search results.
    3. In the search field in Keychain Access, enter Exchange.
    4. In the search results, select each item to view the Account that's listed at the top, and then press Delete. Repeat this step to delete all items for your Exchange account.
    5. In the search field, enter adal.
    6. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:<GUID>, and then press Delete.
    7. In the search field, enter office.
    8. Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.
    9. Quit Keychain Access.

    Hope this can help you!

Hi, I have tried the "keychain access" method - but when I type in "exchange" it comes up blank - there is account linked to exchange.

    Can you suggest another workaround?

In case this helps anyone, I'd been dealing with a double keychain prompt every time I'd reply to an email and then again when sending. I believe this started happening when I upgraded to my current version, 16.68.

I solved this by running Keychain Access, searching for adal (as described above), and then giving Outlook access to the two items mentioned above (com.microsoft.adalcache, Microsoft Office Credentials).

Then, doubleclick each of those items, click the Access Control tab, then click the + button and navigate to your Microsoft Outlook app, and click save changes. Do that for adalcache and MS Office Credentials. Restart outlook and, for me, the problem went away.

By the way, I first tried clicking "Allow all applications to access this item" but it didn't help. I have the other option selected (Confirm before allowing access) but with "Ask for Keychain password" unchecked.

    Hope this helps someone!
