I've tried to remove Teams plug in for Outlook multiple times but it keeps coming back upon laptop reboot.

To remove I navigate to File > Options > Add-ins. I clikc on Go next to COM Add-ins. I select Teams and click on remove.

But it does not work. Next time I reboot I have to repeat the same steps.

How do I remove Teams plug on once and for all?

    Hi @Monika Sirko ,

    Welcome to our forum!

Based on my test on Outlook 365(version is as shown in the below figure), following the steps you said, I can successfully remove Teams add-in and will not recover after restarting Outlook. In order to better resolve your issue, please provide more information about your case:

    • What's the version of your Outlook? (File > Office Account > About Outlook). Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.
    • Can other users in your organization remove the Teams add-in successfully?
    • On the other hand, it's suggested that you could remove other add-ins to check if they can be removed permanently.

In addition, if you currently don't want to use the Teams Meeting add-in, as a workaround, it's suggested that you use the registry to disable it. Please open registry and located to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\TeamsAddin.FastConnect, then double click LoadBehavior and change the value to 0. Then the Teams Meeting addin will not shown in Outlook.
(Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before making changes, back up the registry to restore it in case something goes wrong.)

    Hope the above help!

I just wanted to add some facts:
The issue is neither related to the Office version nor the windows version.
Same is happening to me on Windows 7 / Office 2010 (Office14.0).
My problem with the addin is, that it crashes outlook randomly while it is open and
a crash is nearly guaranteed when closing outlook while the addin is active.
I have .pst files on a network drive (I know it is unsupported, but it was working for about 10 years).
When crashing, you can see a huge read/write action taking place in synology dsm which comes
to an end about 2 minutes after it began. Then it suddenly stops, damaging the .pst files.
But this is just what I noticed and wanted to mention, because i have NO IDEA why a teams addin
is causing massive read/write actions in .pst files. This only happens when the teams addin is active.
And the annoying part is: It is active most of the time, because it reinstalls itself without asking.

    Please note:
The option "Register Teams as chat program within Office" is NOT checked within Teams.
I know the "set, but not checked" bug within certain programs, so I already tried to check it, then uncheck it again.

It does not matter if I

    • Uncheck the addin in the addins list
    • Click "Remove" in the addins list
    • Set DWORD "LoadBehavior" to "0" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\TeamsAddin.FastConnect

It simply sets "LoadBehaviour" back to "3" after the next Teams startup (Or, in Monika's case after a reboot if Teams is in Autostart)

    I tried to change
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinList
DWORD "TeamsAddin.Connect" from "1" to "0". No effect.

I even added registry Keys to prevent this under
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\outlook\resiliency\addinlist
    DWORD "TeamsAddin.FastConnect" set to "0"

No way, it just does not work, the addin just comes back.

    Some additional facts:
This is my private computer, I work within a RDS/RDP session for my company where I can't use
Teams from my company within RDS, because we do not forward audio/video properly. Audio is totally delayed.
So I use Teams client locally, but it integrates into my private Outlook and I want to restrict Teams from doing so.

I know, this is quite an exotic setup within an old operating system and an old office version.
But maybe this helps to identify bugs within Teams or to find a solution for Monika and me.
