Overview of Azure Kubernetes Application Network observability (preview)

Important

AKS preview features are available on a self-service, opt-in basis. Previews are provided "as is" and "as available," and they're excluded from the service-level agreements and limited warranty. AKS previews are partially covered by customer support on a best-effort basis. As such, these features aren't meant for production use. For more information, see the following support articles:

Azure Kubernetes Application Network leverages Azure Monitor for comprehensive observability of member clusters. This article provides an overview of the observability features available for Azure Kubernetes Application Network, including supported metrics, logs, and tracing capabilities.

Observability features

Azure Kubernetes Application Network member observability infrastructure includes the following features:

Feature Workspace type Description
Managed Prometheus Azure Monitor workspace Stores Prometheus metrics scraped from your cluster.
Container logging Log Analytics workspace Stores container logs and control plane logs.
Dashboards with Grafana Azure Monitor workspace Links to your Azure Monitor workspace to visualize Prometheus metrics in Grafana dashboards.

Workspace options for Azure Kubernetes Application Network observability

You can create new workspaces or use existing ones. If you don't specify a workspace ID during onboarding, a default workspace will be created in your resource group. You can onboard workspaces for metrics or logs. For more information about workspace options, see Create workspaces.

Observability limitations

Azure Kubernetes Application Network currently doesn't support tracing or control plane metrics.
