Downloading a Data Source

Note

Bing Maps Spatial Data Service Data Source Management API retirement

Bing Maps Spatial Data Service Data Source Management API is deprecated and will be retired. Free (Basic) account customers can continue to use Bing Maps Data Source Management API until June 30th, 2025. Enterprise account customers can continue to use Bing Maps Data Source Management API until June 30th, 2028. To avoid service disruptions, all implementations using Bing Maps Spatial Data Service Data Source Management API will need to be updated to use an alternative, such as an Azure-based solution, by the retirement date that applies to your Bing Maps for Enterprise account type. For detailed migration guidance, see Migrate Bing Maps Data Source Management and Query API.

Azure Maps is Microsoft's next-generation maps and geospatial services for developers. Azure Maps has many of the same features as Bing Maps for Enterprise, and more. To get started with Azure Maps, create a free Azure subscription and an Azure Maps account. For more information about azure Maps, see Azure Maps Documentation. For migration guidance, see Bing Maps Migration Overview.

In Bing Maps Dev Center, go to the Manage data sources page under Data sources and view the Published Data Sources tab. Find the data source, and click Download to start the download process. Data source downloads are in XML format and contain all entity data and the data schema. The download file structure is the same as the XML file structure used for uploading entity data to a data source. Therefore, you can download the XML file, make updates, and then upload and publish the file to update the data source with your changes.

Transaction Accounting: Transactions are counted when you use the Bing Maps Dev Center to create and manage data sources. For more information about these transactions, see Understanding Bing Maps Transactions.
