The only supported upgrade path to the current release is from the release 1 year back from current in accordance with the Modern lifecycle

NOTES:

3. There is no direct upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018. You must first upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 (14.00.0898) or later and then upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

Critical Upgrade Notes

1. Obtaining your Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 Registration Keys!!
Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Ready Licensing (BRL) or Module Based Licensing (MBL) Customers, current on their service plan, must contact their Partner to request their Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018 registration keys. Registration keys will not be visible in CustomerSource until an order has been placed and completed for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

Microsoft Dynamics GP Perpetual Customers, current on their service plan, will automatically have their PartnerSource Business Center (PSBC) account and license keys upgraded to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

2. If you notice Payables Document attachments missing.

3. Management Reporter 2012 CU16is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018

4. If you are upgrading from Dynamics GP 2013 or Dynamics GP 2015 prior to build 14.00.0898 and going to latest build of Dynamics GP 2015 or later, you may run into an upgrade error 70 or 135 on the PM30200 table. It is recommended to upgrade to 14.00.0898, then upgrade to latest version from this point. If you still have issues with the update, please create a support case.

5. If you apply the Dynamics GP 2016 February Hotfix and you are using VAT (3096) or Encumbrance (3258) you cannot upgrade to GP 2018 till 2019 September Hotfix released.

Upgrade Supportability

1. Microsoft Dynamics Technical Support can assist with upgrades from a supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy to a supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy . For example, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

  1. Microsoft Dynamics Technical Support can assist with upgrades from a non-supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy to a supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy. For example, Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018.

  2. Microsoft Dynamics Technical Support cannot assist with upgrades to a non-supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy even if the end result is a supported version. For example, Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains 8.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0.

  3. Upgrade services through Advanced Product Support Services are not available when the end result is a non-supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy. For example, Microsoft Business Solutions-Great Plains 7.5 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0. If you have any questions regarding upgrade services, please reach out to your Microsoft Dynamics GP Partner and ask that they open up an Advisory Services Request with Microsoft for you.

  4. Upgrade services through Advanced Product Support Services are available for upgrades to a supported version according to the Microsoft Product Lifecycle Policy. For example, Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 or Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2018. If you have any questions regarding upgrade services, please reach out to your Microsoft Dynamics GP Partner and ask that they open up an Advisory Services Request with Microsoft for you.

  5. Due to the length and potential complexity of upgrade cases, the following protocol is used to divide upgrade issues into separate technical support cases.

  6. Case 1 - Pre-Upgrade Question

  7. Case 2 - Installing Microsoft Dynamics GP and running the upgrade in Microsoft Dynamics GP Utilities on the company databases and the modified forms and reports.

  8. Case 3 - A potential issue in Microsoft Dynamics GP following the upgrade.
    NOTE: If the technical support cases were for a test upgrade and assistance is required for the live upgrade, a new case will need to be created to troubleshoot the issues for the live upgrade.
