The Monitor tab in the new agent experience gives you visibility into your agent's performance and activity after deployment. Use it to track conversation sessions, review analytics, identify errors, and understand how users interact with your agent.
Note
This article reflects the new agent experience in Microsoft Copilot Studio, which is currently available as a production-ready preview. Learn about the two experiences in Classic vs. new agent experience.
- Production-ready previews are subject to supplemental terms of use.
- Some capabilities available in the classic experience aren't yet available in the new experience.
- Agents created in the new experience can't be converted to the classic experience.
What can you monitor?
Note
The Monitor tab is unavailable until you publish your agent. To make it available, select Publish.
The Monitor tab provides:
- Analytics dashboard: Key performance metrics including conversation volume, user engagement, satisfaction, and response quality over time.
- Session tracking: A detailed view of individual conversation sessions, including status, duration, and the tools and knowledge sources used.
- Error monitoring: Visibility into failed or rejected sessions, with details about what went wrong.
Analytics dashboard
The analytics dashboard gives you a high-level view of your agent's performance. Key metrics include:
- Conversation sessions: The total number of conversations your agent has handled.
- User engagement: How actively users interact with the agent, including message counts and session duration.
- Satisfaction: User satisfaction signals, including thumbs-up/down feedback.
- Response quality: Indicators of how well the agent is answering questions, including answer rates and topic coverage.
- Tool use: How often the agent invokes tools and which tools are used most frequently.
You can filter the dashboard by time range to focus on recent activity or longer-term trends.
Session tracking
The session list shows individual conversation sessions with your agent. Each session includes:
- Status: Whether the session completed successfully, failed, or is in progress.
- Duration: How long the session lasted.
- User messages: The number of messages exchanged.
- Tools used: Which tools the agent invoked during the session.
You can filter sessions by status (such as failed, complete, or in progress) to quickly find sessions that need attention.
Select a session to view its full transcript, including the user's messages, the agent's responses, and details about tool invocations and knowledge source usage.
Error monitoring
The Monitor tab helps you identify and diagnose issues:
- Filter sessions by Failed or Rejected status to find problematic interactions.
- Review session transcripts to understand what went wrong.
- Check tool connection status and authentication errors.
- Look for patterns in failed sessions that might indicate a configuration issue.
