Assets panel (XAML)

The Assets panel lists all the XAML element types, styles, and media that you can add to the artboard.

The Assets panel lists all of the controls that are available in your Blend for Visual Studio 2012 project. In addition, the most recently used controls appear in the Tools panel.

You can open the Assets panel by clicking the Assets icon JJ129476.0d8b8d29-1af9-418f-8741-be3097d76eab(en-us,VS.110).png at the bottom of the Tools panel, or by clicking Assets on the Window menu.

Callout 1

Search box   Filter the list of assets by typing in the Search box.

Callout 2

Grid mode and List mode   Switch between the Grid mode view and the List mode view of assets.

Callout 3

Assets categories   Click a category or subcategory to view the list of assets in that category.

Callout 4

All   Select to show all available controls.

Callout 5

Common   Select to show only the Microsoft design styles available in a resource dictionary.

Callout 6

Category description   View a description of the category or subcategory selected in the Assets panel.

Tip

You can quickly add a control to the artboard by doing one of the following:

  • With a category or subcategory selected, click one of the items in the list, and then use your pointer to draw the object on the artboard.

  • With a category or subcategory selected, double-click one of the items in the list to insert a new object into the active layout panel.

  • With a category or subcategory selected, drag one of the items from the list onto the artboard.
