Create a territory set manually

  1. On the Data menu, click Territories - or - On the Standard toolbar, click Territories Gg674737.BIZTerritoriesButton(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

  2. On the Method page of the Create territories wizard, click Create manually, and then click Next.

  3. Choose the country/region that you want to build your territories in.

Note   If your territory set will be comprised of multiple countries, you must select <Multi/Other> from the top of the list.

  4. In the geographic unit box, select the geographic unit on which you want to base your territories from the list of available units.

Note   You must select the smallest common geographic unit that applies to your territory set.

In the scenario where most of your territories are composed of states, but one state is divided into two territories, do not select state as the geographic unit. If you choose state, you would not be able to create two distinct territories in that state. In this case, you should base your territories on county or ZIP Code rather than state.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Review the text on the Manual Creation Tips page for information on manually creating territories.

  7. Click Finish.
