Adding Task Objects to the Appliance Initialization Task
The Appliance Initialization Task is executed each time the server appliance is started. If called by a service - or by another task - the Appliance Initialization Task may occur without a restart on the part of the server appliance. The OEM can add task objects (server appliance tasks) to the end of the list of task executables in the Appliance Initialization Task. All of these task objects are executed each time the system starts. To add a task object so that a given task is executed every time the server appliance is initialized, you must stop and then start the Appliance Manager service, for example, net stop appmgr; net start appmgr
, after changing the registry value.
Appliance Initialization Task objects are listed under the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\ServerAppliance\ApplianceManager\ObjectManagers\Microsoft_SA_Task\ApplianceInitializationTask registry key and the TaskExecutables value string. OEM-supplied task objects must appear at the end of the list in this string.
