Use these steps in order on Windows 11 to troubleshoot Bluetooth that stopped working, even after updating or reinstalling drivers:

    1. Update the Bluetooth driver in Device Manager
      1. Select Start, type Device Manager, and open it.
      2. Expand Bluetooth.
      3. Right‑click the Bluetooth adapter (for example, Intel, Realtek, Qualcomm, etc.) and select Update driver.
      4. Select Search automatically for drivers and complete the wizard.
      5. Restart the PC and test Bluetooth.
    2. Install Bluetooth drivers via Windows Update
      1. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
      2. Select Check for updates.
      3. Install all available updates (including optional driver/firmware updates if shown).
      4. Restart the PC and test again.
    3. Reinstall the Bluetooth driver If updating did not help:
      1. Open Device Manager.
      2. Expand Bluetooth.
      3. Right‑click the Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device.
      4. Confirm and then restart the PC.
      5. Windows will automatically reinstall the Bluetooth driver after restart.
    4. Roll back the Bluetooth driver (if the issue started after an update)
      1. Open Device Manager.
      2. Expand Bluetooth, right‑click the Bluetooth adapter, and select Properties.
      3. Open the Driver tab.
      4. If available, select Roll Back Driver and follow the on‑screen instructions.
      5. Restart and test Bluetooth.
    5. Install the latest driver from the PC manufacturer If the problem continues:
      1. Go to the PC manufacturer’s support website.
      2. Search using the exact device model number.
      3. Download and install the latest Bluetooth driver for Windows 11.
      4. Restart the PC and test Bluetooth again.

If none of these steps restore Bluetooth, the issue can be hardware‑related (Bluetooth adapter or mainboard), in which case contacting the PC manufacturer’s support is recommended.

    1

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

    Go to System - Troubleshoot

    Click 'Other Troubleshooters'

Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter from the resulting page

Check if Bluetooth is then working

    2

    If not, open Device Manager.

At the top of Device Manager, choose View - Show Hidden Devices

    Expand the Bluetooth section.

Please provide a screenshot of that full Device Manager window

    Hi TOBIAS SAWO,

Thanks for the details you’ve shared. Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try the following.

To better understand what’s causing the Bluetooth issue, could you please help clarify a few details below? This will help narrow down the root cause before we proceed with any further steps.

    1. Has Bluetooth ever worked on this PC before, or is this a new issue after a recent change (such as a Windows update or reset)?
    2. Are you using:
      • A built‑in Bluetooth adapter (laptop / motherboard), or
      • A USB Bluetooth dongle?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Confirm Bluetooth Support Is Enabled at the System Level

Please check whether Bluetooth is fully available in Windows:

    1. Go to “Settings” > “Bluetooth & devices”
    2. If you do not see a Bluetooth toggle at all, this usually indicates:
      • Bluetooth is disabled in BIOS/UEFI, or
      • The Bluetooth adapter is not being detected by Windows

If the toggle is missing, driver reinstall alone will not resolve it.

2, Check Whether the Bluetooth Service Is Running

Even with drivers installed, Bluetooth will not work if its service is stopped:

    1. Press Win + R, type “services.msc”, and press Enter
    2. Locate “Bluetooth Support Service”
    3. Make sure:
      • Startup type is “Automatic”
      • Service status is “Running”
    4. If not, right‑click it and select “Start”

3, Verify Device Status in Device Manager

Instead of reinstalling, we need to confirm detection:

    1. Open “Device Manager”
    2. Select “View” > “Show hidden devices”
    3. Check:
      • Is there any Bluetooth adapter listed, even with a warning icon?
      • Is Bluetooth listed under “Other devices” with a yellow mark?

If Bluetooth does not appear at all, that strongly points to a hardware‑level issue or firmware setting, not Windows configuration.
