Purchasing overview

You can purchase solutions, called offers, through the commercial marketplace. An offer is a solution available on the commercial marketplace containing one or more plans. A plan is a component of the offer that defines an offer's scope and limits, and the associated pricing when applicable.

For example, an offer can be a "Customized VM (Virtual Machine)." This offer could contain two plans: a basic plan with 4 GB of RAM and 16 GB of Storage and a standard plan with 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of Storage. When purchasing an offer, you need to select a plan.

Purchasing a public offer

Public offers are available for purchase on Azure Marketplace or Microsoft AppSource. The person completing the purchase needs the right roles and permissions. Since Azure Marketplace is part of Azure, it utilizes Azure's role-based access control (RBAC) model. To view the permissions to purchase a public offer, see Roles and permissions.

Once the person is assigned the correct permissions in Azure, they can follow these steps to purchase a public offer in Azure Marketplace.

Follow these steps to purchase an offer in Microsoft AppSource.

Purchasing a private offer

A private offer is created by a Microsoft partner for a specific customer, and might contain custom prices, terms and conditions and custom configurations of a solution. Private offers are available in Azure Marketplace. To learn about custom solutions using private offers, see the Overview of custom deal making. The process to procure a private offer requires engaging with a Microsoft partner, providing them with information to create your private offer, receiving the private offer, accepting and purchasing. To learn about custom solutions with private offers and how to procure them, see the Overview of custom deal making.
