SplitContainer.OnMouseDown(MouseEventArgs) Method

Definition

Raises the MouseDown event.

protected:
 override void OnMouseDown(System::Windows::Forms::MouseEventArgs ^ e);
protected override void OnMouseDown (System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs e);
override this.OnMouseDown : System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs -> unit
Protected Overrides Sub OnMouseDown (e As MouseEventArgs)

Parameters

e
MouseEventArgs

A MouseEventArgs that contains the event data.

Remarks

By default, the OnMouseDown event handler allows the user to track the splitter position while it is moved down with the mouse. OnMouseDown also draws the SplitterRectangle to show the current position of the splitter while it is moving. The SplitContainer keeps track of the initial SplitterDistance in case the user cancels the move.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Handling and Raising Events.

The OnMouseDown method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When overriding OnMouseDown(MouseEventArgs) in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnMouseDown(MouseEventArgs) method so that registered delegates receive the event.
