Public Overrides Sub Initialize (component As IComponent)
Parameters
- component
- IComponent
A Menu, which implements the IComponent interface.
Exceptions
Examples
The following code example shows how to override the Initialize method in a class that is inherited from the MenuDesigner class. The overridden method changes the behavior of a control that is derived from the Menu class at design time. The example throws an ArgumentException exception, if the associated control is not a MyMenu
object.
public override void Initialize(IComponent component)
{
// Ensure that only a MyMenu can be created in this designer.
if (!(component is MyMenu))
throw new ArgumentException(
"The component is not a MyMenu control.");
base.Initialize(component);
} // Initialize
Public Overrides Sub Initialize(ByVal component As IComponent)
' Ensure that only a MyMenu can be created in this designer.
If Not TypeOf component Is MyMenu Then
Throw New ArgumentException( _
"The component is not a MyMenu control.")
End If
MyBase.Initialize(component)
End Sub
Remarks
The visual designer calls the Initialize method when it is ready to use the designer to render the Menu control. The Initialize method and its base methods configure properties and set up events that are necessary for the operation of the designer.
The component
parameter is the Menu control that is associated with this designer or a copy of that control.
