Kontrol FormView merender templat yang berbeda untuk baris data berdasarkan mode kontrol saat ini (ditentukan oleh CurrentMode properti). Tabel berikut ini memperlihatkan templat mana yang digunakan untuk setiap mode.

ItemTemplate Gunakan properti untuk menentukan antarmuka pengguna (UI) Anda sendiri untuk baris data saat FormView kontrol dalam mode baca-saja. Templat item biasanya berisi kontrol untuk menampilkan nilai bidang rekaman, serta tombol perintah untuk mengedit, menyisipkan, dan menghapus rekaman.
Untuk menentukan templat kustom, pertama-tama tempatkan <ItemTemplate> tag antara tag FormView pembuka dan penutup kontrol. Anda kemudian dapat mencantumkan konten templat antara tag pembuka dan penutup <ItemTemplate> . Untuk menampilkan nilai bidang sumber data yang terikat ke kontrol, gunakan ekspresi pengikatan data. Untuk membuat tombol perintah yang melakukan operasi hapus, edit, dan rekaman baru bawaan, tambahkan kontrol tombol perintah ke templat dengan propertinya CommandName diatur ke salah satu nilai yang tercantum dalam tabel berikut.
