API ini bukan kompatibel CLS. Alternatif yang mematuhi CLS adalah Console.Write(String, Object[]). Pengkompilasi C# dan Visual Basic secara otomatis menyelesaikan panggilan ke metode ini sebagai panggilan ke Console.Write(String, Object[]).

Metode ini menggunakan fitur pemformatan komposit .NET untuk mengonversi nilai objek ke representasi teksnya dan menyematkan representasi tersebut dalam string. String yang dihasilkan ditulis ke aliran output.
