Properti ini biasanya hanya digunakan dalam skenario berikut, yang melibatkan penangan untuk peristiwa tertentu:

Anda ingin GridView kontrol terbuka dalam mode edit untuk baris tertentu saat pertama kali halaman ditampilkan. Untuk melakukan ini, Anda dapat mengatur EditIndex properti di handler untuk Load peristiwa Page kelas atau GridView kontrol.
Anda ingin mengetahui baris mana yang diedit setelah baris diperbarui. Untuk melakukan ini, Anda dapat mengambil indeks baris dari EditIndex properti di penanganan RowUpdated aktivitas.
Anda mengikat kontrol ke GridView sumber data dengan mengatur DataSource properti secara terprogram. Dalam hal ini, Anda harus mengatur EditIndex properti di RowEditing penanganan aktivitas dan RowCancelingEdit .

Jika Anda mengatur EditIndex properti setelah postback atau di handler untuk peristiwa yang dimunculkan lebih lambat dari Load peristiwa, GridView kontrol mungkin tidak memasuki mode edit untuk baris yang ditentukan. Untuk mencegah GridView kontrol memasuki mode edit setelah pengguna mengklik tombol Edit atau hyperlink, atur Cancel properti GridViewEditEventArgs objek ke true dalam penanganan RowEditing aktivitas.
