As configurações são armazenadas em uma hierarquia de arquivos de configuração. A Configuration instância de classe representa a exibição mesclada das configurações de todos os arquivos de configuração que se aplicam a uma entidade física específica, como um computador ou a uma entidade lógica, como um aplicativo ou um site da Web. Quando nenhum arquivo de configuração existe para uma entidade especificada, o Configuration objeto representa as configurações padrão, conforme definido pelo arquivo Machine.config.

A Configuration classe fornece acesso programático para editar arquivos de configuração. Você usa um dos métodos "Open" fornecidos pela WebConfigurationManager classe para aplicativos Web ou pela ConfigurationManager classe para aplicativos cliente. Esses métodos retornam um Configuration objeto , que, por sua vez, fornece os métodos e as propriedades que lidam com os arquivos de configuração subjacentes. Você pode acessar esses arquivos para ler ou gravar informações de configuração.
Você usa o GetSection(String) método ou o GetSectionGroup(String) método para ler informações de configuração. Observe que o usuário ou processo que lê deve ter as seguintes permissões:
Permissão de leitura no arquivo de configuração no nível da hierarquia de configuração atual.
Permissões de leitura em todos os arquivos de configuração pai.
Se o aplicativo precisar de acesso somente leitura à sua própria configuração, é recomendável que você use as GetSection sobrecargas de método para aplicativos Web. Para o aplicativo cliente, use o GetSection(String) método .
Esses métodos fornecem acesso aos valores de configuração armazenados em cache para o aplicativo atual, que tem melhor desempenho do que a Configuration classe .
Observação: se você usar um método estático GetSection
que usa um parâmetro de caminho, o parâmetro path deverá se referir ao aplicativo no qual o código está em execução, caso contrário, o parâmetro será ignorado e as informações de configuração do aplicativo em execução no momento serão retornadas.
