Você também pode usar essa propriedade para restringir o comprimento do texto inserido quando os dados devem ser armazenados em um banco de dados para que o texto inserido no controle não exceda o comprimento máximo do campo correspondente no banco de dados.

Essa propriedade não afeta caracteres adicionados programaticamente.

Quando essa propriedade é definida como 0, o comprimento máximo do texto que pode ser inserido no controle é limitado apenas pela memória disponível.
