Flushing Method Field, Prod. Order Routing Line Table

Specifies a flushing method for this production order routing line.

The following flushing methods exist:

Method Description

Manual

Select this option if you want to post the output manually by using the output journal.

Forward

Select this option if you want the program to automatically calculate and post the output. The program uses the quantity on the production order line as the output quantity. Calculation and posting will be done when you change the status of a simulated, planned (or firm planned) production order to Released. You are, however, still able to post output manually from the output journal.

Backward

Select this option if you want the program to automatically calculate and post the output. The program uses the quantity of the production order line as the output quantity. Calculation and posting will be done when you change the status of a released production order to Finished. Otherwise, it will be done when the operation is finished. You are, however, still able to post output manually from the output journal.

Consumption posting, as opposed to output posting, is governed by the Flushing Method field on the item card, alternatively on the production order component line.

However, if the Routing Link Code field on the corresponding production order component line is used, then the Flushing Method field on the machine/work center will also govern how consumption posting happens, but only in the following case: If both the item and the machine/work center use an automatic flushing method, and these automatic flushing methods are different, then the method used on the machine/work center governs when consumption is automatically posted.

The setting you make in this field is copied to the Flushing Method field on the production order routing line according to the machine/work center of the master routing, but you can change the field for an individual production order to allow a different output (or consumption) posting of that order.
