Edit content on Microsoft Q&A
When content is not clear or incomplete, you can edit content. Likewise, you might think there is a better tag for your content that you maybe missed when posting. You can edit your content to improve it.
Prerequisites
- You need to be signed in Q&A.
Limitations
- Unless you're a moderator, you can only edit your own content.
- Drafts are not saved when editing content. Instead, if you navigate away while editing content without saving, you will get the native browser alert
Changes you made may not be saved.
Edit a question
You can edit the question contents and tags in a single action. When you edit content, you will see the full contents of the page for context. Also, you can edit question content and tags in a single action.
- From the Questions page, select any question you would like to edit.
- Select the overflow menu on a question.
- Select “Edit”.
- Update the question details on the editor.
- Update any tags by entering a new tag name and select from the list of choices. Delete any existing tag by selecting the "x" symbol, next to the tag.
- When you're done, select "Post your question".
- You will see the question updated.
Edit an answer
Edit your answer for bigger impact.
- From the Questions page, select any question you would like to edit their answer.
- Select the overflow menu on a question.From the answer overflow menu, select “Edit”.
- Update the answer details on the rich-web editor.
- Select Save. If you're a moderator, you have the option to go back to the question or to the moderator tools section.
Edit a comment
Edit your comment for better clarity.
- From the Questions page, select any question you would like to edit a comment.
- From the comment overflow menu (the ellipsis), select “Edit”.
- Update the comment text.
If you're a moderator, you will see two saving options: "Save edits and view question" and "Save edits and go to the moderation queue".
- Selecting on "Save edits and view question" takes you back to the moderation queue. The comment you have edited is no longer in the queue.
- Selecting on "Save edits and go to the moderation queue" takes you to the question page, and see the updated comment.
Edit deleted content
Editing content that is deleted, automatically restores it into the site. So ensure that is your intent before editing. This includes any edits on the Title, Tags, or Details sections.
