UpDownBase.OnTextBoxKeyDown(Object, KeyEventArgs) Method

Definition

Raises the KeyDown event.

protected:
 virtual void OnTextBoxKeyDown(System::Object ^ source, System::Windows::Forms::KeyEventArgs ^ e);
protected virtual void OnTextBoxKeyDown (object source, System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs e);
protected virtual void OnTextBoxKeyDown (object? source, System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs e);
abstract member OnTextBoxKeyDown : obj * System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs -> unit
override this.OnTextBoxKeyDown : obj * System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs -> unit
Protected Overridable Sub OnTextBoxKeyDown (source As Object, e As KeyEventArgs)

Parameters

source
Object

The source of the event.

e
KeyEventArgs

A KeyEventArgs that contains the event data.

Remarks

If the InterceptArrowKeys property is set to true and the user presses the UP ARROW key, the UpButton method is called. Likewise, if the user presses the DOWN ARROW key, the DownButton method is called.

Raising an event invokes the event handler through a delegate. For more information, see Handling and Raising Events.

The OnTextBoxKeyDown method also allows derived classes to handle the event without attaching a delegate. This is the preferred technique for handling the event in a derived class.

Notes to Inheritors

When overriding OnTextBoxKeyDown(Object, KeyEventArgs) in a derived class, be sure to call the base class's OnTextBoxKeyDown(Object, KeyEventArgs) method so that registered delegates receive the event.
