Tagging on Microsoft Q&A

A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Microsoft Q&A previously used a "free form" tagging experience where a question author could select up to 5 tags as necessary. The new tagging system uses a hierarchy to help route a question to the most appropriate experts. A question will have only 1 hierarchical tag.

What happens to questions using the old tagging experience?

Existing questions using the "free form" tagging experience will persist. Making edits to these questions will require using the new hierarchical tagging system.
