Scenario : App service deployment or scaling

Issue: Error " The subscription '<id>' is not allowed to create or update the serverfarm."

Workaround:

Retry to provision the App Service after a few hours (similar thread #1535067 user was able to fix the problem). If your requirement fits, try deploying in a different region.

If you continue to receive this error, please raise a a support ticket for a closer investigation.

I have the same issue. Tried different regions and windows/linux based .NET 8 functionapp all fail with code 'Forbidden' and status 'BadGateway'. In details pane I see the error like VenkateshDodda-MSFT reported.

I had tried everything recommended in MS forums and on Stackoverflow, nothing helped. Since my subscription is on a VS subscription free credit plan it's only got basic support, so no technical support requests. For everyone reading this, Venkatesh (the OP of this thread, thanks a lot btw) contacted the backend team who did something and now it's working again.

Getting the same issues still. I was also directed here as my question was marked duplicate. Have not been able to resolve it. I have created a new Entra ID and moved my subscription, changed regions, tried different deployments but they all fail with the Microsoft.Web/serverfarms issue.

I cannot create a support request because my subscription (only basic support) is paid for through my company.

The workaround did not work for me and I have been trying for quite a few days now. Similarly to others, I cannot make support tickets for this type of issue with the basic plan. I understand from the number of threads and comments for this issue that it seems to be a big problem @VenkateshDodda-MSFT , but I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me.

Im facing with the same issue. So do anyone can tell me. Is it a problem with my account, subscription or something related with my account configuration or just a Microsoft services failure and we need to wait on fix?

Hi @VenkateshDodda-MSFT Could you please help me with what workaround shall I try?
I have a "pay-as-you-go" subscription, with "Microsoft.Web" registered as service provider. I can deploy other azure services like "Storage account" , "SQL dbs".
I have tried it multiple times and multiple days but every time is the same issue. I am not sure why I am getting the error as "subscription is forbidden to update server farms". Please help me with the same.

Has anyone actually had this fixed apart from @The F , Its been 5 days now for me since I commented on my original thread which got pulled into this one and nobody has contacted me and support said that ,being a student, I don't get technical support. I had tested this a month ago and now it worked fine. Now after I have created my whole final year project and I try to deploy it, or even a blank web app, I get this error. @VenkateshDodda-MSFT

I was able to create tha app service directly from visual studio publish feature. just select Azure as the destiantion of the publish and configure a new app service from there. and worked here

Hello @VenkateshDodda-MSFT - unfortunately, I get the same error.
I've tried a different region, different day, deploying from Visual Studio, Shared ASP - but all get the Bad Gateway error described above.
Could you speak to the back end team for me please? As I only have the free VS Subscription.

Hope this helps others in future. You will need to wait somewhere in the range of 24hours to 32 hours. I had the same problem and by the time support team got it, the problem was gone by itself without doing anything at all.

I am experiencing a persistent issue that began on May 29, 2024. Despite following the advice from official support to wait a few hours, the problem persists even after switching regions and attempting again the next day. I have a registered web service and am using the free tier. My goal was to create a simple function app, but this issue has completely stalled my progress, leading to a highly frustrating experience.

This is particularly concerning as a first-time user of Azure. How can I recommend Azure to beginners when faced with such unresolved issues? My subscription ID is 7d1dc83d-cd25-4622-be64-a119bade36d7.

Based on numerous posts and discussions on StackOverflow, it appears this issue might resolve itself unpredictably within hours, days, or even weeks. It is alarming that even Microsoft Official Support seems uncertain about how to address this problem.

I hope someone is looking into this issue faced by so many people in the community, Imagine if this starts happening to enterprise users as well will you still tell them to wait for a few hours, and maybe the issue will be fixed by itself.

@Jibin Thomas Philipose I've been having the same issues since May 28th and I'm seeing the same issue. I feel the same way, idk why with this slow turn around in service support to future prospective clients you would choose to allow this to continue.

@ajkuma - For those individuals that do not have the ability to put tickets in, Does Microsoft ever go out and update any settings for users trying the service(s) in Azure. A lot of these same features can be done on other platforms.

Hello,

This issue persists after trying 100% of all solutions posted.

In addition, I created a new subscription and waited 24 hours to test again. I've also attempted to unregister and reregister with the Web resource. No luck.

Seems that something clearly happened based off the number of posts on this topic.

Any additional information would be helpful.

@All, After I put my ticket in to Microsoft Support, response was to try several items to no avail. They ended up having to apply rights to the serverfarms from my subscriptions from their side. After that I was able to then create but I had to put a support ticket in.

I have this problem while deploying my web app (Linux/Windows doesn't matter, both fail). I tried to change regions, clean cookie, open in incognito mode etc. All of these advices don't work for me.

Same as the others nothing worked. This was suppose to be an evaluation to see if we could leverage azure cloud instead of AWS.
Due to this error on the platform we are unable to do a single thing. For now the whole azure platform feels like an instable immature concept
