    Hi Amerity

I understand that Roblox on your Windows 10 device is not working, and Microsoft Store shows that an update is available but fails with error code 0x87E00196.

To help narrow down the issue, could you please confirm the following details?

    • Does the error happen only when updating or opening Roblox, or does Microsoft Store show the same error when updating/downloading other apps as well?
    • Are you using the Roblox app installed from Microsoft Store, or the Roblox installer downloaded from the official Roblox website?
    • Is your Windows 10 device fully updated under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update?

In the meantime, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread then the step below. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

    Reinstall Gaming Services:

    • Right-click Start
    • Open Windows PowerShell or Windows Terminal as administrator
    • Run this command: Get-AppxPackage gamingservices -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
    • Restart the PC
    • Open Microsoft Store again and install Gaming Services if prompted.

If Roblox from Microsoft Store still cannot be updated or launched after these steps, you may install Roblox directly from the official Roblox website as a workaround while the Store version is being addressed.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

There is a known issue affecting Roblox on Windows devices where the Microsoft Store version cannot be downloaded or played on some systems, and this has been present across multiple recent Windows updates. The documented workaround is to install and play Roblox directly from the Roblox website instead of using the Microsoft Store version.

For general Microsoft Store app issues on Windows 10 (such as updates failing or showing errors), the recommended steps are:

    1. Make sure Windows 10 is fully updated:
      • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates, and install any available updates.
    2. Update Microsoft Store itself:
      • Open Microsoft Store from the Start menu.
      • Select See more (three dots) > Downloads and updates > Get updates and let Store updates install.
    3. Repair or reset Microsoft Store and apps:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft Store > Advanced options.
      • First try Repair; if the problem persists, use Reset.
    4. If the Store will not open or behaves incorrectly, run the Store reset tool:
      • Press Windows key + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter.
      • A Command Prompt window opens briefly and closes; Microsoft Store should then launch automatically.

If Roblox still fails to update or run from Microsoft Store after these steps, use the documented workaround and install Roblox directly from the Roblox website while Microsoft continues to track and address the Store-specific issue.
