Microsoft is not working. Once you open is says that it has encountered a problem that is preventing it from opening properly. If you press repair now it closes completely. How do I repair it.

Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

Kindly follow the steps provided by Q&A Assist. However, if the issue persists, I recommend reinstalling the app by following the steps below:

Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    appwiz.cpl

    Then hit OK

Look for the Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 app > Right-click, then select Uninstall

Follow the prompts to uninstall your Office app.

Then reinstall your Office app by following the steps from the link below:

Note: This is a public forum. I may respond shortly, but I apologize in advance for any delays. I am simply a fellow user trying to provide helpful insights and information.

Use a full repair of Office instead of the in‑app “Repair now” prompt.

    1. Close all Office apps.
    2. In Windows 10/11, open Settings.
    3. Go to AppsInstalled apps (or Apps & Features).
    4. Find Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office in the list.
    5. Select it, choose Modify (or Change), then:
      • Choose Online RepairRepair (preferred, as it fully reinstalls and fixes corrupted components).
      • If only Quick Repair is available, run that first; if the problem remains, run Online Repair if shown.
    6. Let the repair complete and then restart the PC.
    7. Open Word or another Office app and confirm it starts normally.

If the apps still will not open after an Online Repair, completely uninstall Office, restart the computer, then reinstall Office from the associated Microsoft account or installation source.
