    Hi @long wang

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience regarding the error in classic Outlook.

I can totally understand the inconvenience of not able to send and receive emails for you daily work. According your concern, the issue could be due conflicting Outlook cache or connection between Outlook and Exchange.

To better assist and understand the issue, could you please share a screenshot of the error message or the exact wording of it so that I can provide targeted solution.

In the meantime, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    • Try to send an email. If it works, enable one add-in and retry the email sending.

Phone calls are not available, but there are several steps that can be used to fix issues sending email in classic Outlook.

    Try these in order:

    1. Check Outlook connection status
      • Look at the bottom status bar in classic Outlook.
      • If it shows Disconnected, Working Offline, or Trying to connect…, Outlook cannot reach the mail server.
      • Go to the Send/Receive tab on the ribbon.
      • In the Preferences group, select Work Offline once to toggle back online.
      • Then select Send/Receive or open and resend the stuck message.
    2. Confirm internet connectivity
      • Open a browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome).
      • Go to http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com.
      • If these sites do not load, fix the network first using the guidance in Fix network connection issues in Windows.
    3. Check for large attachments
      • In Outlook, open the Outbox folder.
      • Start with the oldest stuck message.
      • If any attachment is larger than about 20 MB, remove it.
      • Either attach a smaller file or use a link to the file instead.
      • Save and send the message again.
    4. If the problem continues, use the Outlook troubleshooters
      • Go to the Classic Outlook troubleshooters page and run the appropriate troubleshooter for sending/receiving issues.
      • If troubleshooters do not resolve the problem, use the contact support option on that page to get direct assistance from Microsoft.
    5. Additional repair options if sending still fails
      • Verify the email account password is correct. If the password was changed on the email website, update it in classic Outlook as well (see Reset a forgotten Microsoft account password if needed).
      • Repair the Outlook installation using Repair an Office application.
      • Repair the Outlook profile or create a new one using Fix your Outlook email connection by repairing your profile / Create an Outlook profile.
      • Start Outlook in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe). If sending works in safe mode, create a new Outlook profile to bypass problematic add-ins.

For live assistance (chat, not phone), sign in to Outlook.com, select Help in the menu bar, describe the issue, then under Still need help? choose to chat with a support agent.
