#microsoft word 2016 is not working in my laptop how can i set it for it to function well

Use these steps to get Word 2016 working again on Windows.

1. Close Word and all Office apps

• Make sure Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. are all closed.

2. Run an Online Repair of Office This fixes most "Word has run into an error" or "stopped working" issues.

• Open Start > Settings > System > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features on some versions).
• Find Microsoft Office (or Microsoft 365 Apps) in the list.
• Select it, choose Modify.
• Select Online Repair, then Repair.

• Click File > Export, name it Wddata.reg, save to Desktop (backup).
• Click Edit > Delete, confirm Yes.
• Close Registry Editor and start Word.

3.2 Delete the Word Options registry key (if problem persists)

• Exit all Office programs.
• Open regedit again.
• Go to:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options
• Select Options.
• Click File > Export, name it (for example) Wdoptn.reg, save to Desktop.
• Click Edit > Delete, confirm Yes.
• Close Registry Editor and start Word.
  • If Word works, the issue was a damaged Word Options key.

4. Replace the Normal.dotm template (if Word still fails) A damaged global template can stop Word from working correctly.

• Exit all Office programs.
• Open Start > Search, type cmd, press Enter.
• In Command Prompt, run:
  • ren %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm OldNormal.dotm
• Press Enter.
• Type exit and press Enter.
• Start Word.
  • Word will create a new Normal.dotm. If it now works, the old template was corrupted.

5. If none of the above works

• Perform another Online Repair as in step 2.
• If still failing, completely uninstall Office, restart the PC (full restart, not shutdown), then reinstall Office from the Microsoft account where the product is registered.
