Follow these steps to fix a non-working Bluetooth driver and connect the handsfree device:
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
- Select Start > Settings > Devices (or Bluetooth & other devices / Bluetooth & devices depending on Windows version).
- Ensure the Bluetooth toggle is turned On.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again
- In Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
- Turn Bluetooth off and wait 10 seconds.
- Turn Bluetooth on again.
- Try to pair the handsfree again.
- Update the Bluetooth driver automatically (Device Manager)
- Press the Windows logo key, type Device manager, and press Enter.
- In Device Manager, locate and expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart the PC if prompted and test Bluetooth again.
- Uninstall and reinstall the Bluetooth adapter
- Open Device Manager and expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device.
- Confirm the uninstall.
- Shut down the PC completely, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Windows will try to reinstall the driver automatically.
- If the driver does not reinstall, in Device Manager select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
- Install the latest driver from the PC manufacturer (manual)
- Go to the laptop manufacturer’s website and download the latest Bluetooth driver for the exact laptop model and Windows version.
- If the download is an .exe file, run it and follow the prompts to install.
- If the download contains .inf and .sys files, open Device Manager, right-click the Bluetooth adapter, choose Update driver, and use Browse my computer for drivers to point to the folder with those files.
- Restart the PC and test Bluetooth.
- Check Windows Update
- Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates and install all available updates.
- Restart the PC and try pairing again.
- Pair the Bluetooth handsfree correctly
- Make sure the handsfree is charged, turned on, and in pairing mode (check its manual for how to enter pairing mode).
- On the PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & other devices / Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth and select the handsfree from the list.
If the driver still does not work after these steps, the issue is likely with an incompatible or faulty Bluetooth adapter and may require hardware support from the laptop manufacturer.
