Had the same problem. After selecting Server Standard with Desktop Experience I was able to upgrade with Apps and Files

Dear Support,
I am trying to upgrade Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2022 and wish to keep files, settings and apps.
This option is 'greyed out', leaving only 'Nothing' as the available option.
Please can you advise on how to overcome this problem?

How are you trying? Run setup.exe from the root of the install media inside of windows. You might also check the log files for clues.

2022-10-19T12:50:13.8+00:00 Yes - just having a battle with the company that supplied me with a license key and directed me to the Evaluation Website download, but will not supply me with the full 2022 installation media!!

I have now purchased the full DVD for the installation of Server 2022, but I am still getting the same situation in that the installation process has the 'Keep files, setting and apps' greyed out, giving only the option of 'Nothing' which will result in a total wipe of 8 years of files, settings and configuration for the company!
Any help will be very welcome!
