Can we use different default browser for Microsoft Teams?

OS: Windows 11

I am using Teams for organization/work. I do have my useful login/bookmarks in Edge and so I want to open links from Teams in MS Edge. The rest of the PC should use the default app as configured in the Windows OS setting. It will be very easy for us to managed saved login etc.

In short, the MS Teams desktop app should have an option/setting to set the browser for all links open from there. Without changing the default app for the rest of the windows.

Thanks.

    Hi there, Smit L.,

I understand your situation regarding Microsoft Teams and default browser settings. It can be frustrating when Teams opens links in a browser you're not used to. Unfortunately, Teams uses the default browser that you've set in your Windows operating system for opening links.

But don't worry, I'm here to help! To change your default browser in Windows 11, you can follow these super easy steps:

    1. Click the Start menu.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. Go to Apps.
    4. Select Default Apps.
    5. Under Web browser, select Microsoft Edge.

That's it! Now, Teams will open links in the browser you prefer. If you have any further questions or need help with anything else, just let me know, and I'll be happy to assist you.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi

Thanks for the clarifying answer. Looks like someone should report e.g. to the EU commission about it so that MS might feel urged to do something about this "bug".

I think MS Teams added a feature that allows you to choose Edge or the default browser. However, this does not satisfy the expectation. What if the default browser is Chrome and a user wants to set Brave or another browser?

I have Microsoft Teams version 23320.3027.2591.1505.  It was last updated on 14/1/2024.

I think it's a bug of MS teams in Windows 11. I have Windows 10 and Windows 11 on different PCs and latest MS teams. So on Windows 10 it opens links in a system browser (in my case it's Google Chrome). But on Windows 11 it always opens all the links in Edge no matter what system settings are.
