Search issue with Outlook indexing Server 2019

We recently upgraded our RDS environment from 2016 to 2019. We use FSLogix for profiles and on 2016 used Roam Search via FSLogix. When we upgraded to 2019 we removed those registry keys for Roam Search in FSLogix since 2019 has it "built in" but search is just flat broke. We've got the search service set to automatically restart if it fails. When you are in Outlook and look at indexing status it never loads. If you go to control panel and look at indexing it says 0 items index and indexing complete. If you do a rebuild of the index it doesn't do anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions as not having Outlook search annoys our users even though they can use the web version, they won't.

Thank you

    Hi @John ,
Before going further, please make sure you have upgraded your FSLogix and Outlook to the latest version.

According to your description, seems that your issue might be more related to the specific FSLogix environment and I'm afraid that Troubleshooting methods used in windows environment might not help much. I did some search about your issue and found a Troubleshooting Guide related to similar issues as yours in FSLogix forum. Please check if they could be helpful to your issue:
    Outlook Search Troubleshooting Guide
Configure Profile Container to roam the Windows Search database

Besides, you might need to first check the capabilities of your environment, just as the official document mentioned:

Changes to enhance native search behavior in Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 multi-session remove the need for FSLogix search functionality. FSLogix search functionality is not compatible with Server 2019, Windows 10 multi-session, and subsequent multi-session operating systems with enhanced native search capabilities.

    Hope this can be helpful.

    Hi @John ,
    Thanks for your reply.
Sorry to hear that those information above could not help solve your issue. I did some more search about your issue but could not found more related information.

We've got the search service set to automatically restart if it fails. When you are in Outlook and look at indexing status it never loads.

As I know, Outlook search feature is mainly based on local windows search and many factors from your windows settings or registry value might cause issues like yours. So, in order to eliminate the influence of these factors, it is suggested to create and use a new windows profile in your RDS environment after updating and see if the issue has any difference.

If the issue still continues, since we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client in normal environment and know little about FSLogix. To better solve your issue, it is suggested to try posting a new thread to the dedicated forum for FSLogix and see if you could get more related information.

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/home?forum=FSLogix

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thanks for your understanding.
