Hey guys,
This actually isn't Microsofts fault, it's the device manufacturer, Dell is by far the worst for high dpc latency.
On windows 11 on my acer laptop I get 0.18ms as the highest latency with proper optimization.

Hi,
Many music producers encounter live audio recording issues because of acpi.sys high DPC latency.
This problem has been going on for years now.
I've seen many MVPs replying with brute force checklists that do not solve anything.
I've seen many frustrated microsoft customers reinstalling windows in an attempt to solve this issue and eventually simply switching to Mac.
I know that acpi.sys is the culprit cause I can see it's latency on LatencyMon and after disabling 'Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery' the problem is solved.
So my question is simple, is Microsoft aware of this problem?
Hey guys,

And it gets from bad to worse from here. 2 months back when I opened up my DAW, there isn't any lag, but now just by navigating around within the page, you can literally see the lag here and there. Audio wise? Forget about it, the problem seems to be revolving around the latency issue then again.
Please do not reformat your windows or even go for a clean boot, it is useless. I have tried all. Producing music is my job, but now it seems almost impossible to even compose without having constant frustrations.
Erm, can anyone from the official team PLEASE do something. Life is hard enough, and to face these unnecessary issues isn't what we are paying for buying a PC instead of a Mac. No threats here, just extremely frustrated.
IT KILLS MOTIVATION AND MORALE! Come on!
Hi,
Yes, we always use Latencymon then look at what core is causing it. ACPI.SYS is usually used by Windows to talk to the motherboard. ACPI.sys is power-management related.
As you said, Microsoft Surface ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, it refers to Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver. I know you have solved the issue by disable this driver. I consider that you could reinstall or update the driver (include Motherboard driver) from manufacturer's official website.
Also for this issue, I will forward this information to the appropriate department through our internal channel. Both the Microsoft Product Team and Development Team take into consideration all suggestions and feedback for future releases.
Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.
Best Regards,
Carl
Hi @Carl Fan and thanks for your help,
All drivers and BIOS are up to date on my laptop.
I realize that there is the issue of hardware response time,
But Microsoft is the provider of acpi.sys and I think that they can solve this problem.
For example, by implementing the hardware request asynchronously.
But to my original question, is Microsoft aware of this problem?
Do they have an open ticket on this problem?
Can I follow this ticket?
Some transparency would be nice.
Regards, Sharon.
I`m in the same boat . HP i7 16gb not capable of handling sound due to ACPI interruptions.
