I am trying to assign a job role "Cognitive Services OpenAI User" to a service. However, I only see a blank list. I can also assign an owner role, which is too general. I have owner access to the subscription and service. What could went wrong? Please help, I am out of ideas. Screenshot 2023-10-20 at 8.47.21 AM

    Hi @Daniel Wu ,

I understand that you are trying to add the Cognitive Services OpenAI User role but are not able to see the role in the "Job function roles" list.

I can't tell from your screenshot where you are trying to add this, but it doesn't look like you are adding this in Azure AI service itself. You need to add the role directly from Azure OpenAI > Your OpenAI Resource > Access Control (IAM) > Add role assignment > Role > Members

    User's image

You can also assign the role via Azure CLI as described here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/openai/how-to/managed-identity#assign-yourself-to-the-cognitive-services-user-role

If you are still unable to view the roles through those views, it's possible that there could be some restrictions on your subscription
