How to remove cached Microsoft Edge accounts

Hello Microsoft Support Community,

I found there are some "cached" email accounts are still listing under Microsoft Edge Browser Profile > Choose an account.

These accounts are old profiles which I signed in before, however I already removed these profiles several times ( there is no signed in profiles now), and also checked Windows Control Panel > User account, no related accounts there.

And I've double checked if these accounts are signed in Office 365 Client, but none of them singed in in my computer. I tried to find them via my computer settings > Work and School accounts, even I tried to check if they are cached from Office registry Identity, however I cannot find them.

May I know how should I remove them? Please advise, any help would be appreciated !

Ps: I am using windows 11 and the latest version of Microsoft Edge !

No account listed there, as I only use local admin ( not Microsoft account) to sign in my windows PC, and no accounts listed there even I checked windows credential manager, no related accounts there.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Oliver

I see. Are you still able to open these accounts on a separate profile? If so, try that, and then when you sign out put a check on "Clear favorites, history, passwords, and other browsing data from this device"

    See if this helps

Some old accounts were Office 365 accounts and the domains were already removed, so I cannot sign in them to tick the option you shared above, however, I tried one of them which I could login, but after removing the profile again, this account is still listing as before, no luck on it.

I am afraid I cannot totally remove them......

Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas. But let me ask other experts if they have other suggestions that can fix this :)

Hello Oliver. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1. Here are all ways to remove old Edge Profiles:

    https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2476941-...

    https://www.urtech.ca/2022/11/solved-how-to-rem...

    1. I'd also turn off Edge Sync in Edge Settings > Your Profile in case it's syncing the old accounts between other devices.
    2. Other places to check are Windows Settings > Accounts > Email and other Accounts, Family & Other Users, Access Work & School, and Windows Mail app > Settings > Manage Accounts.

If this is not working correctly then here are all ways to repair Edge including Resetting and reinstalling: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsofted...

If nothing else works then I'd report this as a bug to Edge Developers in the Edge Hub (three dots to right of URL address bar) then Help & Feedback, then Feedback form to fill out. They may not even see it here.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
