Edge JSON Viewer

I have been using Edge to view JSON data since I hate the layout of using Pretty-print. For some reason randomly now, when I view JSON in edge, I am getting Pretty-print instead of Edge's default custom JSON viewer. I don't think I did anything, I just randomly opened a JSON file with edge and now am getting Pretty-print viewer which I hate. Any suggestions on how to get Edge's json viewer back?

This has happened to me since Version 132.0.2957.115 (Official build) (64-bit).

If this is how it's going to be, then at least have a setting to always pretty print. Otherwise, I could just use Notepad.

    Hi, Test Tester3

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Based on feedback from other users, it seems that the issue you encountered was caused by an update in a certain version of Edge.

It seems that the developers have not provided the corresponding options to change this setting.

If you prefer the old version of the JSON Viewer, you can try the following steps to roll back the Edge version. Additionally, you can provide feedback about this issue to the Edge developers using Alt+Shift+I, so they are aware of the problem you encountered.

    Download Edge for Business (microsoft.com)

Please ensure all Edge processes are closed before entering this command. The command will install silently, and you will need to wait for a while. You can check the version number at this path. After rolling back, temporarily move the Edge Update folder to another path. If the old version works, do not move it back until the next update. Manually update Edge to see if the issue persists.

It would have to be v131. Haven't tried it yet, but expect it won't work.

    PRINT THIS FOR REFERENCE

OK, do this: Go to website:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download?msockid=01d0db0b2ed9681319d0cf0a2ad9666b&form=MA13FJ

(the Download Edge for Business above)

    Scroll down to old versions

    Select Channel/Version: Stable 131

    Select Build: 131.0.2903.146

    Select Platform: Windows 64 Bit

    then download

Close Edge. Open Task Manager, scroll down to Microsoft Edge, right click and select End Task

    Open folder window to Downloads

    Should see: "MicrosoftEdgeEnterpriseX64.msi"

Right click Start button, select Open Terminal (Admin} and click the yes

    Enter these commands:

    cd downloads

    msiexec /I MicrosoftEdgeEnterpriseX64.msi /qf ALLOWDOWNGRADE=1

setup will actually start and run. When it's done, in folder window go to:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft"

grab the EdgeUdate folder and drag it to the Temp folder below it. Click Continue to allow move.

Edge won't update now. Periodically check the website above to see if a new version drops.

If so, go back to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Temp" folder, drag EdgeUpdate folder back up to Microsoft where it was before. Open Edge, select the ... in top right corner, go to Help and Feedback, select About Edge. It should automatically update, then see if it works. If not, go back to the top of this post and try it all over again, until it does work.

Note: the /qn switch in earlier post works in silent mode, but Windows needs auth to install. /qf is for full UI and works right.

This works for me, using it right now. Wishing you success, then mark it solved.

    Good Day

    Mike
