[No] it is not the same issue...

Note that I did not ask if it was the same issue, I asked if it was the same computer.

That being said, the issues are, in fact, related:

...Failing to uninstall IE8 (and IE7) before doing a Repair Install will leave Windows (and any version of IE) in a "confused" state, hence your ongoing problems. Your ONLY recourse now is a clean install.

Please post any/all further follow-up in replies to your original, year-old thread => http://answers.microsoft.com/thread/99c58e4a-68ca-4663-9b02-27ee10b58a10

    Hi TaurArian,

I will review the attachments and reply (in a timely fashion this time).

    thanks so much.

I do note that the 'work around' suggested in one of the attached articles is...to enable automatic updates...I have tried this and even on shut down the updates downloaded, will not install.

Further the other article details a registry log and items that should appear (under senslogin). None appear in my 'registry key' (??) and it provides no details as to how to add them. Is it not surprising that NONE appear?. The only thing that appears is '(default)  reg_52 (value not set)'.

Note...I am not a computer guru...far from it.

The other item discusses debigging following a 'irql_not_less_or_equal' blue screen crash. I will review and action and come back.

    regards

    Lethal42

    Hi PA Bear,

Not it is not the same issue. Then other refers to 'favourites' in IE8. This one refers to the inability to install windows updates, and also documents the 'blue screen' crashes that are occuring a little more the weekly.
