I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I've tried setting up my gmail account as a POP account and it doesn't work in Microsoft for Outlook nor does it work in Outlook.com. The Mac Mail doesn't support anything but IMAP or SMTP accounts. I don't want to leave my email messages out on the Gmail server, I want to be able to download them to my computer and place in the folders I've created on said computer.
Anyone had success with setting up a Gmail POP Account in Outlook for Mac?
I have Outlook for Mac and have been unable to add a new Gmail Account with POP Settings. It was tricky to get to the IMAP/POP setup screen in Tools > Accounts, but once there, I can enter in all the details. When I click on Add Account, no success. Has anyone else had any success with POP setup in Outlook for Mac? Frustrated to say the least!

2021-02-26T17:29:25.467+00:00 Please see the attached .jpg of the message received when I attempt to use the new Outlook format for Mac. Gmail POP is not supported. This is an issue for me as that is what I use and I don't want to leave my messages out on Gmail's server forever. When will Microsoft support POP in the new Outlook format?

2021-03-02T17:09:46.797+00:00 Thanks for the update. I've added my feedback to the user voice community. It really is a shame that POP3 is currently not supported with the new Outlook for Mac. Over the years, I have faced different issues and it is usually due to the fact that Microsoft just doesn't want to support the functionality any longer. For example, I bought Outlook for Mac 2011 and was syncing all of my contacts, calendar/events from Outlook for Mac 2011 to my iPhone via iTunes. One day, it just stopped working. No notification, Microsoft just took that functionality away even though the sync button still appeared in Outlook. Really frustrating! I then had to scramble to figure it out since all of my contacts on my iPhone disappeared. I then figured out that I could get an Exchange account, store all of my contacts and calendar/events in that account and that would be sufficient. I have an Exchange account for my business, but I don't have that for my personal email accounts. I'm not going to pay for another email account nor am I going to pay Google for additional storage simply because Microsoft thinks POP3 isn't needed. Why should I pay for storage when I have 1 Terabyte on my Mac Desktop. Really, really, really disappointed with Microsoft's customer service right now.

2021-10-13T15:16:21.643+00:00 I've had all of the same exact issues as Patricia describes.
Patricia, how does one use an Exchange Account to sync iPhone contacts and calendar? I'd like to do the same.
Thanks.
