Why is my Network Status Not Connected even though i am able to surf via Google Chrome.

But the Windows updateXbox App and other Windows Apps thinks i am not connected.

I've tried resetting, updating and rolling back my network adapter but it didn't work.

And all this started after installing the latest Windows 10 October update.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I would suggest you to try the steps provided in article: Fix network connection issues in Windows. Also check if the proxy settings are disabled. To check the proxy settings:

    1. Open Windows Settings (Windows key + I)
    2. Then click on Network & Internet > Proxy.
    3. Toggle the option Automatically detect settings to ON.
    4. Toggle the option Use a proxy server to OFF.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi HiteshNivalkar,

Specify the way you connect to the internet, modem-router or other?

I've tried all the steps provided in the article.

Toggle the option Automatically detect setting to ON.

Toggle the option Use a proxy server to OFF.

Both of these above proxy setting were same by default.

I've connected the network cable directly into the ethernet port.

I am not using any kind of modem or router.

So I have to assume you have a Dial-UP connection or a PPPoE broadband dsl connection. Which of the two connections?

Probably Windows considers these types of connections as consumption connections and therefore does not allow you to download updates or other.

Try this: Go to Settings> Update and Security> Windows Update>Advanced Options, enable the button: Automatically download updates even on consumption connections.
