New Outlook (v. 16.49) cannot move emails to shared email account

Hello,
since switching to the new outlook (v. 16.49) i cannot move emails from my private account to the shared email account or the other way round.
I have to switch back to be able to do so again.
Anyone knows why? This is quite essential for our workflow.

Outlook Mac recently updated to version 16.60 and seems like this functionality no longer works (was working previous to this version)

I have the same issue: on Outlook Mac 16.60, I am unable to move messages to folders on a different account. This is essential in my workflow to archive messages from my inbox into proper folders. I have done a re-install of Office 365.

I resolved this yesterday by deleting the accounts in Outlook and re-adding them as IMAP accounts. Need to be careful as Outlook will automatically try to add them as Google accounts which will not work - needs to be an IMAP account - so click on "Not Google" to add as IMAP. Follow GMAIL steps if you need to know how to setup an IMAP account.

Thanks... That worked for my gmail account. I also use an iCloud account; after deleting it and adding it back as SMTP, I still cannot move messages into my iCloud folders. I think I will stop using iCloud and use google to host my mail folders.

It has to be an IMAP account or it will not work. I saw a link that might be able to help for iCloud IMAP settings:

Hello,

I can see this problem is almost a year old, but still doesn't seem to be resolved fully. I switched to the new outlook and it was working fine, until recently. I have now switched back to the old outlook.
I tried to make ad my hotmail through IMap, but that doesn't seem to work. I am using the 365 for Mac outlook..does that have anything to do with this?

I hope anyone can help me out!

I have Outlook for Mac V 16.64 and cannot move email from the folders of one account to the folders of another. Very inconvenient.

All my accounts are IMAP and this is still a problem for me. I keep having to revert back to old outlook as being able to store emails in folders under different accounts is an essential function for me. I wish Microsoft would hurry up and fix this.

I am currently running Microsoft Outlook for Mac (ver 16.77.1), Its more than 1 year after the last community feedback on the move email issue. All of my email accounts are configured as IMAP accounts on Outlook client. I also have Yahoo and Gmail accounts. With the recent availability of the local folder on my Computer, I finally migrated to the new Microsoft Outlook. But without the ability to move emails from my online email accounts to the local folder, it really defeats the purpose of having the Local folder on my Computer feature.

Is there already a fix that I may have missed, or is the move email issue still outstanding to be address? Thanks.

According to the official article below, looks like what you are experiencing is a known issue still under investigation:

The new Outlook for Mac - Known issues

Given this situaiton, it's suggested to swtich back as you have already done. And meanwhile, we can check the article above periodly to see if there would be any update on this issue. I'll also keep an eye on it and post back here once I see any new information.

Update ( 6/23/2021:)
According to the latest admin response in the Outlook UserVoice forum, copy/move messages between two accounts is now available in version 16.50(21061301) and newer:
Not able to drag/move e-mails from one mailbox to another anymore.

I'm using version 16.62 (preview) and I still can't move email messages across accounts.
It started happening when I updated my Outlook for Mac today, it was a previous GA version, and now I activated the preview but the issue persists.

I upgraded to version 16.63 (22070801) and it still doesn't work.

I cannot move a message from the inbox of my gmail account to a folder under my Outlook account.

I have the latest update, but I’m having the same problem still. It wasn’t solved. Btw, the problem persist in all platforms: Mac OS, iOS and iPad os.

I find is absolutely chocking that this does not seems to be able to get solved. #Microsoft can you please make this a priority. I can move/drop and drag between accounts in the old version of outlook and would be happy to use the new version...but I am still not because this issue continues to exist.

I encountered this problem as well. I contacted Microsoft and they instructed me to switch to the old version. Launch outlook, click on “Help” and then “switch to legacy mode”. Problem solved and the update i did is active on this version(legacy one) as well.

Had to do the same thing we have been doing for years. Delete other account (e.g. gmail) set it back up, but be careful to click on NOT GOOGLE in the top left and change it to imap.

It is about time Microsoft sorted this, only been happeneing since 2020.

As mentioned here. I can resolve this issue by adding the other account(GMAIL) as IMAP.
Now I'm able to move messages between both accounts.

I was forced to Outlook from my original email client due to MFA requirements and because of this cannot use my original workflow any more, which requires moving emails from a gmail to the office account. I tried to use the IMAP trick, but Outlook keeps on redirecting me to the Google sign-in, so it will not allow me to add a gmail address as 'just' IMAP, unless I'm missing something. Would be great to see this fixed.

Using IMAP for gmail works great but then it doesn't synch your google calendar.

So you're forced to choose between being able to copy across folders of outlook+gmail, but without gmail calendar, OR, NOT being able to move mail between gmail and outlook folders AND HAVE gmail calendar. Guessing Outlook for Mac only supports moving mail out of /into gmail folders when they are configured via IMAP. Interestingly outlook for windows does support moving items in and out of native fmail accounts without needing to configure as IMAP

Same for me Wim. I did ad my hotmail address as an IMAP, but I still cannot move any mails between my workmail and my hotmailaddress. I hope someone will have another trick
