Hey Community Support,

I recently wanted another desktop of myself so i made a new user in Windows 10. However, when I press CTRL + ALT + DEL and then click on switch user, it just gives me my original account. It shows up on Settings --> Search --> Users.

I tried lusrmgr.msc but it says that this version is not supported by lusrmgr.msc. Go to control panel and search user instead. So how do I switch accounts now.

You have 4 user accounts. If they do not show up on the logon screen then your machine is affected by the bug I mentioned. Maybe upgrading to the latest version of Windows will fix the problem.

    Hi AkshatRakeshOne,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

See if this registry tweak can help you in enabling "Switch User" from your windows computer.

    Here's how:

    1. Press Windows key + S, this will open search
    2. Type regedit, run it as an administrator
    3. On Regedit, navigate to this path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

    1. Look for a value called “HideFastUserSwitching“. If it does not exist, right-click the “System” folder, select “New DWORD 32-bit value“, then type a name of “HideFastUserSwitching“. Press “Enter” to create the value.
    2. Double-click “HideFastUserSwitching“. Change the “Value data” to “0” to enable Switch User when you press CTRL + ALT+ DEL
    3. Once the value is set to 0, test it by pressing CTRL + ALT+ DEL, Switch User should be there.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

This is what JhakeSong had in mind. Whether it will work I do not know.

    Hi AkshatRakeshOne,

This is the name of the registry entry that you need to type "HideFastUserSwitching". Only if you cannot find it from the path I gave in the instructions.

Just follow the steps one at a time to make sure you don't mess up.

    Here it is again:

    1. Press Windows key + S, this will open search
    2. Type regedit, run it as an administrator
    3. On Regedit, navigate to this path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

    2. Double-click “HideFastUserSwitching“. Change the “Value data” to “0” to enable Switch User when you press CTRL + ALT+ DEL
    3. Once the value is set to 0, test it by pressing CTRL + ALT+ DEL, Switch User should be there.
