Authentication failed error on Outlook application on Android device

I am experiencing this same issue of the Outlook application on my Samsung Galaxy (Model SGH-T959V, Firmware Version 2.2.1).  I first encountered the issue when I updated my Hotmail application a couple of weeks ago.  That Hotmail update then provides no other option than to Upgrade to Outlook.  After installing the Outlook application, I sign in using my hotmail email and password.  The next step asks if I will "let this app access your info" at which point I press the Yes button.  Soon after that, I receive a message that "Authentification failed; Authentication was not successful" with a button to "Try Again."  I have tried again multiple times.  I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Outlook application numerous times for the past two weeks and I run into the same result.

Please fix this issue soon or reinstate the previous version of Hotmail in the Play Store since the Hotmail application was working just fine.

I appreciate your time.

Peace be with you.

Sincerely,

Joseph Houser

    Hi Noirceuil,

Thank you for posting back! Let me further assist you with this concern about authentication failed.

Please be informed that you can gather log files even if you are not sign in. Just tap on the messages list section of your app then proceed on the next step by tapping the … option on the bottom part of the screen as said by the previous moderator.

Post back for any additional inquiries.

    Hi Urminator,

I'm sorry about that. You don't need to provide us your log files anymore since you can't access your account. However, may I request you to provide us your mobile OS (complete version) and your mobile device (model).

Let me know if you have other clarification.

    Thank you.

I have the exact same problem. My Android version is 2.2.2 (Froyo.UYJPP), and I've got a Samsung GT-I5500L phone.

No matter what I do I can't log in, I get the Authentication failed error.

    Regards

Same problem for me, never had issues with the hotmail app it was much better.

Hate the way it looks like gmail as well, i would rather have my emails separate than grouped. :-(

Any idea when this will be fixed?

Make sure your products work before you release them to the public...just a thought.

Stop providing troubleshooting steps that are Non Applicable as you've been told multiple times now.

Remove the forced upgrade to Outlook app on the Hotmail app in the store.

Until then, provide this link for people to follow instructions for their device/client: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/send-receive-from-app

Thank you for at least providing a link to mobile web outlook...but that's not what most users want.
