The lack of any ability to switch off single-click to open a message in-line is very annoying. Please can we get something done so a new message is only opened in a new window following a double-click? A single click should do nothing other than select/highlight the message.
How to Disable single click to open email in New Outlook?
In New Outlook, it opens an email when I click on it.
I want to change the setting to double-click. Please help.

2025-01-24T11:02:49+00:00 The issue I have with a double click opening an email in a new window is that when viewed in a new window it doesn't show as opened in the inbox.
Unless there is a setting for this of course.

2025-01-30T13:52:30+00:00 This is what I found worked for me:
In Outlook, select
Layout ->
Reading Pane ->
Options ...
Single key reading using space bar Off

2025-01-30T14:04:52+00:00 I want to clarify that most of the people here, don't want to use the reading pane. They want a double click to open the email in a new window, as it has in previous releases. Reading pane is not a solution so please stop suggesting anything involving it.
