In New Outlook, it opens an email when I click on it.

I want to change the setting to double-click. Please help.

This is not on the new outlook. After reading up they don't have any fix yet.

Will be staying on the classic for as long as possible at this rate.

The reading pane really has nothing to do with this issue. You can have the reading pane on or off to display the email within that pane of the main Outlook window. The issue is having the email open up to a second window on single click vs. a double click.

I don't have this as an option in the New Outlook

Layout -> Reading Pane -> Options ... Single key reading using space bar Off
