New Outlook memory usage

Old Outlook has a reputation for bloat. I used Task Manager to see how much memory Old vs New use. I was amazed to see that New Outlook uses over 1GB on my system. The "bloated" Old Outlook uses around 200MB. I thought that New Outlook was based mostly in the cloud. And with 1GB of memory, they still have a product that doesn't work as well, nor have as many features, as the Old one. Software design has changed a lot since I was doing it back in the 70s - 90s. Maybe we really should let AI do it.

I don't think the new outlook is ready yet. It keeps crashing, and I have to go back to the old outlook.

    Hello,

    I don't understand.
Outlook 2024 uses 100x more resources than Outlook 97 for the same capabilities :

    • write emails in HTML format
    • autocorrection
    • schedule appointments with colleagues with shared agenda
    • manage contacts.

    1GB vs 10MB

    Is it normal ?

    Thanks
