windows update (KB5004237) failing to install

I have tried downloading the update many times after I install the update and restart my pc after it passes 97% and moves to 98% I face an error saying "We Couldn’t Complete The Updates Undoing Changes" and after it's done restarting my pc I face the error " 0x800f0922 " its also saying " Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.".

This is what I have... Thing keeps failing to install the update.
Can't install it, can't stop it. Stupid Update Medic service... Re-enables things...

Same issue here.

KB5004237 and the earlier KB5004476 both repeatedly try to install, then fail at about 98% and roll back the changes.

It's very annoying and I'm starting to get worried that I won't be able to upgrade this machine to Windows 11 when the time comes.

Same issue with KB5004237 and with KB5004945 previously, both with error 0x800f0922. Tried all the fixes and workarounds with no success. It's worisome having to pause all of these critical updates...

I'd like to add and say that I am also having this issue. As of today, I have spent several hours trying to get the update to roll through. I am always left with the same issue addressed above. Weirdly the same with it just barely passing 97% before deciding to not complete and undo the changes. I am glad to hear that this issue has also popped up for others but concerned that there isn't quite an answer out there yet.

Hi John I have exactly the same problem with the 2 updates that you are having problems with installing, KB5004237 and with KB5004945 , Microsoft tech support is useless and is all just online, I called my HP tech support and they couldn't work it out either. Microsoft needs to rectify these issues asap, Let me know if you find a solution that we don't have to be a computer technician to work out Thanks

We are at MS' mercy on this. As noted in other replies, you should use the Feedback Hub and search for the two KBs in question and upvote the ones you find. Once it reaches some magical threshold, MS may deign to act on it. Otherwise if they feel this is a niche problem, we'll be postponing updates for some time until they get around to fixing.

1st go to windows update catalog,download/save as,save to a folder.Once thru,R.click on cmd,,run as Administrator,in cmd type: services.msc in msc,scroll to Windows installer,double click,set to Auto start,start service,exit scroll to windows module,do same,exit msc,exit cmd,R.click on the download,run as administrator.If it fails,open control panel,administrator tools,event viewer,windows logs,expand,locate the date/time of the failure/properties/see what the os says../

Bitlocker has been disabled from the get-go when I first installed Win10. And confirmed still disabled when applying the updates. Good that it worked for you but Bitlocker is not the cause of why the updates failed for me.

The logs showed no errors, only Info messages. MSInstaller executed without issue. A reboot and then more MSInstaller, guessing that would be the rollback and then another reboot before standard Windows startup.

Hi,
I downloaded the Update KB5004237 (which did not run on my PC directly from the Microsoft-Catalog (=587,6 KB) and tried to install it - but it said: "This Update is not applicable for your PC"

So it seems as if I do not need it! (?)

Hi Wolfgang well if that is the same for my computer and is also not applicable to install, I guess I just wait for the computer to stop trying putting to install 2 not applicable updates into it ? it's still a Microsoft problem as far as I'm concerned. I've paused update again for 7 days as the computer just tried installing both again

Same here. Tried to do the install again and failed again. Even with the new optional preview update. So tired of this, I paused updates for the max 35 days. It's not as if I can apply any security updates in the meantime. :(

Same Problem.

It has tried to do the update every night since July 14.

I have tried many steps to resolve.
* clearing the software distribution 3 times.
* attempted to manually download and install
* uninstalled my antivirus
* reinstalling edge
* run windows update troubleshooter

All failed to solve.

This issue is beyond frustrating, as it causes my machine to have a 30 minute startup time each time it attempts to re-install. fail, and rollback.

Microsoft, Fix your update, or stop pushing it to my machine.

I totally agree with you Russell either they as In Microsoft FIX THEIR problem or stop pushing those updates to our machines, I use my computer for Multi Media presentations and it slows it down while it keeps trying to download and install those 2 updates KB 5004327 and KB 5004296

So we are sunday, decide to fix this probleme

Fresh install with USB / 0 Driver update / just windows Update > Same probleme rollback immediately after apply of this update
Reset bios > That work!
Reapply bios settings > Blue Screen
Reset bios > work again

So something wrong there, i'm searching the specific settings now, hope it's not an important thing

Maybe it can help some people with only one computer to update
Update was pushing evry day so annoying

Never get problems before with my bios
B550
SAM / Undervolt 5600x / Little RAM OC (3200>3600 on ballistick)
