Invalid Pointer Array

I am using PowerPivot for Excel 2013 on Windows 7.

Following the Windows updates on April 10th I am now seeing an error...

"We could not get data from the Data Model. Here is the error message we got: Invalid pointer array"

There is a posting about a hotfix from when this happened in December last year (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2837666) but I cannot see if this will work on the latest incarnation of this problem.

I have found a blog that suggests uninstalling what the author identifies as the offending update (KB2752087) but this has not worked for me, and out update policy is managed centrally so I would need to have someone from IT support log in as a local admin every morning to remove it again.

has anyone successfully applied the hotfix or have any other advice on resolving this issue?

Thanks in advance

I am getting the same error message applying the hotfix to a Windows Server 2012 machine with Office 2013 (15.0.4420.1017)

I applied all Windows updates and loaded Office Service Pack 1 on my computer and no longer have this problem.
