"VALUE" Error Issue

Hi people,

I would like to ask a question regarding the use of Microsoft Excel in Office 365.

Being the middle-man for this issue, a team from the Marketing Department encounters an issue where the value/number is not updated normally like it should be, instead it shows "VALUE" just like in the attachment.

At first, I open all the individual Excel files one-by-one and finally I open the main Excel file. I get 2 errors right after opening the last file (see attachment):

Strangely, only 1 person in the team can edit the Excel file normally meaning it shows an actual number or value after calculation. And that person can also save the file without any issue.

Any help is utterly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Syazwan,

Thanks a lot for your time and effort.

This should be the cause as the name of the reference is changed, Excel can't find the data it refers to and won't connect to a non-existent workbook. However, I notice you mentioned there is one user in the team can edit and save those workbooks normally. Considering there are serval workbooks and they are complex, we kindly suggest you contact the author to re-upload those files and shared it with you if he confirms those files can be opened normally in desktop client first. This is the simplest and most effective method as I suggested previously.

    Appreciate your understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Zixuan

    Hi Zixuan,

I just contacted the Marketing user and I asked him specifically how many folders in his team's SharePoint, what are the folder names and whatnot.

I noticed that the folder name has changed, for example:

Old folder name: ../Internal Dept Shared Documents/CMO OFFICE/Sales2Collection Tracking 26.DEC.17-khai/Sales to Collection Raw Files/..

New folder name: ../Internal Dept Shared Documents/CMO OFFICE/Sales2Collection Tracking 19.Jan.18-khai/Sales to Collection Raw Files/..

Could this be the culprit of the issue?

    Note:

The Marketing user also told me that the file is open meaning permission is not restricted.

    Thanks and regards.

    Hi Syazwan,

Thanks for your updating. If the URL is right and you get the permission, you will go to Sales-Admin first, it should be a document library rather than a workbook. Thus, the error message maybe indicates the URL is not correct. To ensure you get better support and help us narrow down the issue faster, we kindly suggest you contact the site admin to check the workbook and its permission to confirm whether you can access that workbook first.

    Best Regards,

    Zixuan

    Hi Zixuan,

I tried the link as per suggested but it displays 404 Not Found. Is it because of the space in between words or actually the file location is now gone?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Syazwan,

In the example you provide, you can paste: https://p**a.sharepoint.com/sites/M*/S***g/I**s/C***E/S***i/S***s/Sales_Admin, then try to check whether you can access JUBILEE.SA.xlsx. (To protect your Privacy, I have removed the PII.)

However, considering you are not a member in that team, you may not have access to the Sales_Admin library, we kindly suggest you contact the site admin to check whether you have permission to that file directly.

    Best Regards,

    Zixuan
