Microsoft Excel for Mac database corruption (sqlite)

Dear Microsoft Support Team,

we have problems with Microsoft Excel for Mac. Whenever we start the application it asks to recover the last state of a document. It doesn't state which document it wants to repair and if we accept it opened up the last couple of documents that we have worked on. This only occurs once whenever the application is started. In the console there are hundreds of errors like:

Microsoft Excel database corruption at line 89345 of [2b954060f]

/Applications/Microsoft Excel.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Excel (/usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib)

Subsystem: com.apple.libsqlite3 Category: logging

Activity ID: 0 Thread ID: 0xcf71 PID: 715

What can we do to solve the problem? Where is the sqlite database stored? Can we delete them so that Excel creates a new one?

Kind regards,

Oliver

I found it easily the day I wrote my reply - but right now I don't remember the steps I took. I found an alias of libsqlite3.dylib and followed it to the original.

    You might look into LibSQLite

    https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/integration/libsqlite-66906

You will find a lot of troubleshooting information on this product here:

    https://stackoverflow.com/search?q=libsqlite3.dylib

And where is the SQLite database located? I have asked this question several times without a proper answer.

    Hi all,

I can only repeat what I have already written in my previous posts: one of our users has a problem with a Microsoft product that suddenly behaves differently. We have investigated as far as we can (down to the filesystem events and system log) and identified a malfunction in the Microsoft product (a corrupt sqlite database being used by Excel), hence why I have beseeched your help. I am a certified Macintosh technician myself with a lot of in-depth knowledge about UNIX, and it's not caused by an Apple component in this case. If that was the case, then the problem would also occur with a different user account. It's not a professional option to just start from scratch with a new user profile for all users that are experiencing this problem, or even other problems in the future. The only option is to debug further until the problem is resolved. Or using a different software in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Oliver
